The Twenty-Fourth Inforum World Conference in Osnabrück, Germany
The 24th Inforum World Conference was held in Osnabrück in the North-West of Germany during the week of August 29th through September 2nd, 2016. Osnabrück is a city with approx. 160,000 inhabitants founded by Charlemagne. Together with the city of Münster, these towns are the places where the Peace Treaty of Westphalia was signed in 1648, which ended the Thirty Years' War. This is why Osnabrück is also called "Die Friedensstadt" ("the peace town").
Osnabrück has a well-kept and restored Old Town with many historic buildings, which is worth a visit. There is also a nice shopping area in the pedestrian zones in the city centre and a large selection of restaurants, bars and clubs for different target groups plus a number of interesting museums and historic sites. Besides its long history, Osnabrück is also a young city: almost a fifth of its inhabitants are students (approx. 30,000 at the university and the college of Osnabrück).
The conference location was inside the historic Castle of Osnabrück, which is now used by the University of Osnabrück. The building is in very short walking distance from the arcona LIVING Hotel.
